Film's Title

I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge of how either the Chinese or English title came to be. "As Tears Go By" is best known as a melancholy Rolling Stones song from the 60s. The lyrics don't have any obvious connection to this plot, other than a vague feeling of someone wanting to do more with their life and being sad. "Mong Gok Carmen" refers to Mongkok, an area of Kowloon in Hong Kong: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongkok

Researching the famous opera called Carmen, I don't see any obvious connection to the film either, and in my video version (Cantonese with English subtitles), there's no character named Carmen (or anything phonetically similar). This is a great film and this has always puzzled me a bit, I'd love to have more insight into the title, unless it was somewhat arbitrarily chosen. Thanks!

I won't be able to speak to the Chinese title, although "carmen" has a secondary english meaning - "song". So, "Mong Gok Carmen" could mean "Mong Gok Song" or "Song of Mong Gok", the area where the film takes place.
