Near the top of my comfort movies

I've mentioned on other boards "comfort movies". They are movies you've seen a hundred times and are pleasant when you can't sleep or often have on in the background. Then there are gems. Movies that never found a huge audience but are under appreciated and have a cult like following for those who discover and connect with them. For me this movie falls into both of those categories. It also has one of my favorite lines "don't worry Holmes Morriarty knows you're an idiot."

I haven't seen this movie hundreds of times, but I also feel it is very cozy and comfortable to watch. Really well-structured, very well-acted and - unlike many other spoofs - never gets stupid and over-the-top. It is also very British.

I agree. It is the perfect cheer up movie. Engaging and intelligent, yet silly.

What other comfort movies do you recommend? I'm quite a fan of:

-- The Pirates of Penzance (1983)
-- Breaking Away (1979)
-- Man on Wire (2008 Documentary)
-- Groundhog Day (1993)
-- Back to the Future (1985)
-- Tropic Thunder (2008)
-- Almost Famous (2000)
-- Dead Poets Society (1989)

And any good action movie.

I love this movie. I never tire of watching it. Dr Watson is so long suffering, and Holmes is an absolute plonker.

Big Trouble in Little China

...to name a few. The last one I don't fall asleep to though because although I love it, the crazy stuff gets into my dreams and then it is crazy town until I wake up! One thing for sure, I can not be in a bad mood after watching any of these.
