Haha, I like the one in which Reginald sitts on his magnifier :-)
To see Reginald dangling in front of Watsons window and the expression on Kingsleys face seeing him is priceless too!

I like the one when he says to Watson

"have I found any (clues) yet"

Absolutely, screamingly funny!

I think my favorite part is when he examines the corpse that washed up on shore, looks up and says, "He's dead." And everyone is enthralled. Brilliant stuff.

The Arty Morty line is definitely one of my favorites and the exploding experiment.

I love the part where the lecherous Kincaid is trying to spy on Lysette's character as she's undressing. He's so frantic, it's hilarious.

I also love the part where Kincaid asks Watson what he's going to do and Watson says think and there's just something funny about the way Michael Caine says, "that's what I'm going to do too. I'm going to sit here and think."

Kincaid to a group in a pub: "And if that snake had bitten me, I would be standing here today, dead!" and Watson's reaction is so funny.

Watson to Kincaid after a round of boasting: "The mamBO is a festive south american dance. the black mamBA is a deadly snake."

Mrs. Hudson sitting on the stage at the theater, waiting over the trap door, singing "Rock of Ages."

Just about any time Watson seethes with frustration and anger over Kincaid's antics and how everyone just eats them up. He practically crackles with suppressed rage.

Kincaid gives the press this speech about how observant he is and then when they go inside away from reporters, Watson asks just how many bricks or windows are on the front of the building and Kincaid's all: "I haven't the foggiest."

When I first saw it, the Arty Morty thing was my fav. It's so well timed. Also when they are on the island and the boatman washed up on shore. He's obviously drown and has been in the water for many days. Watson is going to investigate the body when the mayor stops him so Kincaid can inspect the body for clues.

Kincaid: "Yes. It is my.........opinion, that he is dead."

Crowd: "Genius."

Very funny. A truly underappriciated film.

There are so many fantastic lines from this movie, Micahel Caine shows what a fantastic delivery of comedy he has (as in dirty rotten scoundrels where he shows Steve Martin a thing or two about subtlety and timing). Caine's timing while the boys keep stealing his watch is just brilliant. Many of the lines may well have fallen completely flat with anyone else delivering them.

2 of my favourites are "I've never liked that woman" and "a whisky then?". But the list is endless.

I think Ben Kingsley is flawless in this, as for favourite scenes...

When Reginald blows up Watsons science experiment and when Watson storms in is sitting in a chair reading the newspaper denying all knowledge with his face covered in soot!

Although the true prize has to go to Ben Kingsley for his expression when Reginald and the inspector come through the door on their hands and knees feverishly observing the patterns in the carpet. The combination of amusement and disbelief on his face is priceless!

When arguing with an idiot ensure your opponent is not doing the same.

The silent since where Caine and the housekeeper fall from the ledge and swing from the rope :-)

The rope swing: I laughed one of those "try to hold it in, and it only gets worse" kind-of laughs in the movie theater. I'd say five minutes of sitting there and bursting out laughing thinking about that. Oh my god, that was 20 years ago, and I can still remember that so clearly.
