Does anyone else find Roger Rabbit annoying?

I couldn't get past 20 minutes or so because of how incredibly annoying Roger Rabbit is. He reminded me of Jar Jar Binks.

Agreed--Roger was terribly annoying and unfunny. I couldn't muster any sympathy for him. I actually spent most of the film trying to figure out what established cartoon character would have been better in the role.

Bugs Bunny wouldn't need any help getting out of any these jams and certainly would have no need for Bob Hoskins.

I've never been a fan of Mickey Mouse, but I admit would have been an amazing turn for his character. Unfortunately, there's no way Disney would allow that kind of depth to tarnish his All-American legacy.

Goofy has a lot of range and would probably be up for it, but I'm not sure he has enough star power. (I can't believe I'm even talking about animated characters like this.)

Daffy Duck I think would be the best solution. He is human-like and would assimilate fairly well in a human world as a 'toon (getting a job, getting married). He's funny (often unintentionally) and he constantly outwits himself into making his troubles even deeper. If his arrogance is toned down a bit, people would even be able to feel sympathy for him when he's eventually accused of murder. With my idea of Danny DeVito taking over Bob Hoskins' role, Team DD/DD would be a perfect combo.

I admit, he was kind of irritating.

He's supposed to be annoying. It's part of his character. But he isn't annoying to the point where he makes the movie unwatchable.

I loved Roger Rabbit.

reply

Hell no. Roger Rabbit is one awesome cat, er... I mean Rabbit.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

reply

I hate Rodger Rabbit, but I love everything else about the movie.

reply

He's kind of SUPPOSED to be annoying. That's kind of the point of his character, so annoying that Valiant can't stand him.

Yes, I found Roger annoying. But so does Eddie. I actually loved Eddie's character because he was always being mean to Roger throughout which made the movie much more watchable.

I definitely disagree! I think the character of Roger Rabbit is cute, funny, entertaining and lovable! He's definitely my favorite character in this movie!

In my opinion: Roger > Jessica > Eddie > Baby Herman.

I feel he's supposed be the embodiment of what it'd be like to be around a cartoon character, so he's ramped up to 11 in how annoying he is. But also, I think that allows him to do all the weird cartoon-y stuff like going into the lower desk drawer, and popping out of the top one in talking to Eddie.

Plus, Eddie hates toons, so what better foil than stick him with one that is really, really annoying?

I find Roger to be a typical cartoon character. If he wasn't funny and "irritating" he wouldn't be much of a cartoon character.
