Casting Bob Hoskins was the best idea ever

Not only was he a fantastic actor, and fit well in this gruff private dick role. But he was also extremely good at reacting to stuff that isn't actually there. Like, in a particular scene of Long Good Friday? won't spoil it here, but he's really one of those actors that probably wouldn't even need any props or anything there to make you believe the situation he's in.

Agreed, on every front. Same goes for The Long Good Friday.

Have you seen Mona Lisa?
Oh man . . .

And when you think about how he wasn't even considered for the role at first, it is all the more amazing.

Intelligence and purity.

To me, Bob Hoskins will always be Eddie Valiant.

Metallica, Iron Maiden, and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan

he was actually better/more entertaining than the cartoon characters in the movie which i dont think the producers wanted
