Why would Mark and Sarah use a taxi to get back to the museum?

This thought just occurred to me out of nowhere today and I know this is just a movie but this thought bothers me - In the beginning, the six of them all walk to the museum for the supposed midnight show yet when Mark and Sarah go back to the museum with the intention to burn it down, they then use a taxi lol.

WHY WOULD YOU EVER USE A TAXI?!?!

Why when this is all said and done would you use a taxi to get there when police would probably question a driver who drove them in order to help identify and question anyone who may know something about what happened there? It just doesn't seem smart when obviously they never needed a taxi the other times which seemed to all be all walking distance. Where were they coming from? Wouldn't that have been the time to walk there from another place, like have a taxi drop you off a Mark's house if you really needed one from wherever they were coming from for instance not to draw attention to yourself and just walk again to the museum from there? I just think the taxi should have been left out of the script to make it more convincing.

tv and movies have a million continuity faults. no one goes to the toilet , everyone has correct change and places are juts around the corner.
i have no answer for you but i have wondered why they were very smart until the end and then very stupid .

Haha thanks for the reply! Yeah, just totally bugs me why they put that element at that point in the script. Mostly everything the characters do in the movie doesn't seem to involve the need for transportation until that point besides the inspector and his partner. I mean just think about how they walk every other time when it doesn't matter - Mark walks to college because he could "Use the fresh air", China and Sarah walk there too apparently while encountering Lincoln, they all walk to the Museum at midnight, Mark even walks Sarah home, Johnathan I assume walks there too after using a pay phone that I'm sure he walked to also in town lol and I guess to Sir Wilfred's house is walkable as well.

They only then decide to use the taxi right before committing arson complete with a bag of evidense no less lol
