Was this ever released at the cinemas? Or did it go straight to video?

Released in Germany and other European countries in 1985 to cinemas. It did okay in some places. The soundtrack did well, as did Pia Zadora's singles. She had a few top 10's from the movie.

Released in America straight to video in 1988.

Released straight to video in the UK in 1991.

It was released to some theaters in US, I know, i saw it. They gave out buttons and I think t-shirts. We had VOTRA buttons all over my parents house at one point. Still might be around somewhere, i'll have to look for them.

I was on vacation in Fresno, Ca. the summer this came out and it was everywhere it seemed, and when i got back to Los Angeles, no one had heard of it. It might have been a test-marketing thing. I always wanted to see it, but I sometimes thought it was all a dream...

In France, the film was released on theaters on the 16th of december 1987. For its first day, it got only 46 people in 4 theaters...
