Location

I lived in Ecuador in 1989-90, during the first USA invasion of the Iraq. It's a gorgeous country, very well depicted in this film.

The cinematography was beautiful. It's amazing that a little "comedy" film would shoot on such a location, it's far and expensive to get there... but once there it is dirt cheap, or was so in the 80s.

I recognised many landscapes, and the soundtrack made a lovely display of various styles of Andean music. I also saw Ecuadorian films from those years which interestingly made similar soundtrack choices.

Though I didn't much like CL's acting, and by the 80s, Faulk was doing the exact same face in all his movies, and the supporting actors were pretty horrendous, but I loved Jeff Goldblum in this. Well in fact, I rented the DVD because of Jeff, so I'm quite happy about my choice.

All in all a fun film, though I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "comedy" other than their skills were comical.

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**
