who else grew up with the trailer?

Who else grew up with the trailer to this movie because it was on the VHS for THE MONSTER SQUAD? I've never even seen the movie to this day, but I must have seen the trailer hundreds of times whenever I'd rent MONSTER SQUAD. Whenever I think of MONSTER SQUAD, I also think of the trailer to this movie. Even some of my friends remember growing up with it because of its association with MONSTER SQUAD.

It's been bugging me what movie I used to rent that had this trailer. And it makes sense, because I'm sure I must have worn out my video store's copy of Monster Squad. I remember feeling weird if the trailer came on when my parents were in the room. The movie looked... naughty. All I can remember is a man in bed, covered in snakes.

I'm sorry that you're psychotic but just make an effort.

reply

Haha!! I know what you mean. First time we rented THE MONSTER SQUAD and that trailer come out, my parents freaked out because they thought maybe the wrong movie was in the box or something. LOL!! But yeah, I do remember thinking it looked "naughty" back then. One of these days I'm gonna get around to finally see the actual movie.

I'll take this a step further and say "Who actually saw this movie in a theater?".
Ahem. Right here.

My friend Scott and I were the only people there. It's pretty so-so, but there is a totally revolting upside-down crucifixion/disembowelment, followed by a scene where a guy vomits about 30 gallons of blood, and then spontaneously combusts.

Really must seek this out.

Oh, George... You're getting transparent!

As far as I know, it's not available on DVD. At least not in Region 1.
BUT...if you have Chiller (channel 257 on DirecTV), they have shown it a couple of times this month.

I just watched it on Chiller, and it was awful. Totally cheeseball and ridiculous.

I saw "The Unholy" in the old UA Theatre 1&2 in Colonie, NY when I was a senior in College. I was going to see it with two frat mates, but something else happened and I took my then girlfriend to see it. Needless to say, I loved the film but we broke up two weeks later...

I can totally remember watching The Monster Squad with the trailer for the Unholy in the beginning. I forgot about that, but when I picked up The Monster Squd for like 2 bucks at a Blockbuster Video, I remembered after seeing the trailer. When I was eight of nine, that movie(The Unholy) looked scary as hell. Now, its somewhat cheesy looking, although still kind of cool.

considering some of the horror crap vids of the time , the unholy was a better effort.Never seen it since ,seems to have disappearedinto obscurity.

Definitely remember this whenever I rented The Monster Squad as a kid because it was super freaky looking plus for like one second I swore I saw boobs in the trailer and got super happy about it. The part that always freaked me out in the trailer was the blind priest when he goes "What do you believe in?"

Also the whole movie (which I've never seen, and don't really care to I think) is available for free legal viewing on YouTube as well...
