Question re: the 'pig' man's role


To those who read the book:

Was the "pig" man somehow involved with the failure of the truck's brakes? By tipping off the "pigs"? Or did the communists just find out where Tomas was and do it on their own?

In other words, were they betrayed by their friend? He was the one to suggest they stay overnight and take the truck in the morning.

A good question, shows that one cant rule out anything the "interior ministry" could do in the bad old days of forced communism. As the (ex)diplomat said "anybody can be from the police....who knows..... now you are afraid"
