Gary Oldman's character was a figment of Linda Henry's imagination. She was the one who actually killed her husband.

I'm not sure she actually killed him. You still hear him calling for her at the end. I thought it was more of a metaphorical 'killing'...severing whatever it was that was keeping her there, with him. She finally had matured and was moving on.
