Why isn't Track 29 a cult classic?

So, I watched this movie for the first time this week, and I have some.. thoughts. It (almost) led me to reread Plato's Symposium, made me ponder why we like whackadoo cult stuff like The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and distracted me with lots and lots of glorious 80's work-out fashion. It was too long for a message board post, but I'd love to hear any movie/Gary Oldman fans weigh in on this blog post: https://myyearwithgary.com/2016/05/01/three-track-29-the-love-latter-and-the-unexpected-value-of-ugliness (not a review at all, just some ideas about what on earth is going on).
