WOW, does somebody else like this movie?

I was shocked to see that there was no topics about this movie. And also has a low rating.

It's a great movie, and deals with the personal life of both sides.

I watched the film last night on video tape. And, yes, I was truly amazed at what a fine film it was! The acting was superb! Ed Harris as always was in top form. His speech in defense of his actions was electrifying. He flares up and then brings the emotion back in so quickly -this is very effective. He conveyed a very edgy character: capable of softness, and of evil. His love/hate of Fr. Alex was portrayed very well and very believable.

i rented this movie on vhs 12 years back, and i thoroughly enjoyed the film. and i've since been looking for the dvd version of this film. which to no avail at where i'm living. i was quite enthralled by the story line and the performance of the casts especially ed harris and chris lambert. the pace is a bit slow at times, but i guess that's how this type of film should be. agnieszka holland did a wonderful job at creating a bleak yet subtle mysterious atmosphere at the same time which suits perfectly great with the backdrop and the plot of the film. plus the song 'the crimes of cain' (sang by joan baez) is just perfect for this film.

just giving my 2 cents.

I loved this film, although I haven't seen it in several years. I can't improve on or add to the excellent comments in the review (above). It is too bad that this film has almost no recognition factor within the general public. I stunbled on to it, late at night on Encore Drama channel, I think. I've always liked Ed Harris - he has had some amazing and totally diverse roles. He scared the cr ap out of me in a film he did - sorry, can't recall title - with Sean Connery, Blair Underwood and Kate (again, sorry - she is - or was - Mrs. Stephen Spielberg), a crime thriller which takes place in southern Florida. Harris played a serial child killer, the absolute scum of the earth. His final scene - in which Connery's forensic psychologist character purposely lies to him - just to piss him off - is a testament to his brilliance. ( Connery isn't bad, either!)

But back to "To Kill...". For me, the emotional impact at the film's finish is utterly brought to perfect clarity with the theme, sung by Joan Baez. Now, Miss Baez is not one of my most favorite female vocalists - but when you are looking for humanity and compassion - sung high and clear - nobody does it with such purity. The song itself is so gorgeous, I wish I had a recording of it. I may buy the film - just to have it. Anf to have the movie on hand, as well, of course.

I think it now has a bluray.

I dont know if I'd like it because I haven't seen it - but really want to. I'm a big Ed Harris fan. Kind of ironic he's in a drama about killing a priest when later on he plays a priest in "The Third Miracle". I'm going to start scouring the video stores for a rental copy. Might buy it if I have to.

Wish me luck.

All must see this film. It was incredible and it lets the world know what happened to Poland during the Solidarity movement. I loved it, but I don't think its a film I can watch that often. I think Ed Harris is a great actor, and I will say that I see him differently now. He was a perfect pick for that role, as well as Christopher Lambert, who you like from the very beginning. I finally saw the film for the first, having to buy it on VHS from Ebay. I hope they put it to DVD soon, and I wish the film got more recognition, as the events in the film are sadly forgotten to most, besides the people who lived through the time.

I don't like it. I thought it was a mess of a movie from the start to the very end.
