Have I seen Things Change?

I have the following posted on the I Need to Know Board, but as of July 24 2004 no one has confirmed title of movie:

"Comedy/Thriller, 20-ish kids who pal around somehow wind up pretending to be dangerous Mafioso from out of town, superior to local Mafioso and maybe even from Italy. At one point they introduce one of themselves as the Capo, who speaks only Italian/Sicilian/something. The only Italian he knows is from restaurants and song lyrics. Yet each time he says something (subtitled) the bad guys interpret it as powerful, a propo, or profound (they are also talking Italian and are subtitled)--principally "Volare," which confounds them for a long time but turns out to help the kids somehow. What is title?

Maybe also same movie, they need someone scary and unknown to make a drop, so they get one of their uncles who's a regular guy from like Kansas. They dress him up and drill him to say nothing except "I know nothing, I am only a messenger." Which he does, with a Ben Johnson style accent and a delivery like a high school play. I think it works.

I may be conflating two movies, so my question is also are both these things from same movie, if not also name of second movie."

I'm thinking a Mamet movie would be too classy to be the one I'm remembering this from. It's so specific a memory I would imagine someone familiar with Things Change would be able to confirm or deny.

I will be purchasing or renting TC, but meanwhile if anyone has anything to share--
