Good... but just too dam long!

I love Errol's style and TBL is a good documentary, but it was just too long. I mean once the story was told and you met all the people involved, it was the same stories back in forth. He said this and he said that....blah blah.

It's spelled "damn".

it was roughly 100 minutes long, the length of an average movie. I thought TTBL was brilliant and the duration of it was right on.

The length was standard, but I do agree it progressed slowly. The subject matter was very interesting and everything was shot quite beautifully, but some things were repeated quite a few times. I guess it was to sort of hammer down the important details.

I also think the music from Philip Glass, whom I usually like alot, was beautiful, but actually just made the film a bit dreary instead of making it more interesting. That being said, it works splendidly in the beginning, it just feels a bit misplaced at times further into the film. Maybe it's intended, I don't know.

I think it was too short!

Good point about Glass's music though. It's excellent but it reminds me too much of his score to Koyannisqatsi -- I mean, it is the same composer and all, he does kinda have a "sound" going on -- but it made the film feel.... I like your word, "dreary" ... which isn't an insult at all, it just didn't always seem to fit a compelling documentary...
