The Most Credible Statement

When Adam's female attorney says that the reason they framed him was that they could not give the death penalty to the real killer because of his age. Things get all twisted in this justice system of ours. We get obsessed with closing
cases even if it means punishing the wrong people. Kind of a quantity over quality thing.

Penn & Teller did a great episode on the death penalty on their show (Penn & Teller's: BS) they talk to a guy who was wrongly sentenced to death and his case later overturned on appeal. That guy is now an anti-death penalty advocate and he talks about how as a result of how the justice system works (if a prosecutor doesn't get convictions they won't stay a prosecutor for very long) prosecutoral misconduct is a major problem. People who can afford good legal representation can muddy an issue so much they can often get away with murder (OJ Simpson, Robert Blake) so the DA's office will throw the book at a person who even they know to be innocent if that person can't afford good legal representation.

as long as humans are involved there will always be issues

This issue speaks more about prosecutors than anyone else in the system.

It has to be the irony of ironies that the very people who claim to make it their life's mission to carry out justice, subvert it in the most cruel, vicious, and inhuman way.
