Anyone considers this Sci-fi's answer to Fight Club?
I mean it does predate the book/movie but both TL and FC deal with same themes and all.

I can see your point, however They Live doesn't focus far enough on the media's shallow intentions. The focus is on the action sequences, whereas Fight Club's use of characterisation expanded its critque of consumerism.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
