Where can I find the soundtrack?

The soundtrack for this movie seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth and I REALLY want Roscoe's Rap. Anybody have any suggestions?

Michael Nesmith was a producer on this film. I believe if you go to his site www.videoranch.com you might be able to find it there. If they don't have it on display try emailing their Ranch Foreman.

I have this on CD and, I think, on vinyl. Roscoe's Rap is on there, but only the first one. The one over the end credits didn't make it.

I have this on CD and would be glad to offer any help I could. I was always disappointed that the "Blender Children" Song wasn't on it though.

The sad thing about this soundtrack is the amount of missing songs. Since getting the DVD a year ago, I've managed to put together an extended edition of the soundtrack. Still missing "Live And Learn" by The Swanky Modes, full versions of Darryl Williams "Tender Love Attack" and The Navigators' "Running Away", a vocal version of "That's Enough (Of That War Stuff) by The Swanky Modes and Tim Robbin's "Repave Amerika". I've updated the soundtrack listing for the movie here on IMDb. The Putzes are a fake name used for The Georgia Satellites. Their "Open All Night" song is from the album of the same name put out in 1988. Being that they are going by a hidden identity, it's more than likely that "The Navigators" is also a false name for another group. Sadly, the audio commentary on the DVD doesn't disclose this information like it did for the Georgia Satellites. The Dead Kennedy's song "Insight" is an instrumental version in the film. Not sure where Fishbone's version of the Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" is located in the movie. Haven't heard it nor the song by "They Might Be Giants" anywhere. As it stands, my extended soundtrack contains 35 tracks, eight of which are score tracks I ripped, cleaned and edited from the DVD's 5.1 audio. I also have extended versions of "Ordinary Man" and "She's A Lion", and added Devo's English edition of "Baby Doll". Also never heard "Now That You're Gone" by John and Tim in the film either. In short, with a bit of work, a full soundtrack can be put together and enjoyed.

The They Might Be Giants song is about ten minutes in, heard as background music in the bar. Listen for some strong synth drums and a high-pitched vocal. Here's the actual song's video if it helps you hunt it down!

Not sure you have the song in the right place. The only two tunes that play in the bar are "Darryl Williams - Tender Love Attack" and "The Navigators - Running Away" (of which the group name is fake. Anyone know who the real group is?). I have the song by They Might Be Giants in my extended soundtrack as a bonus for right now.

That's really interesting - what this means is that there is a different music mix on the film outside the United States (the TMBG track is on both the British DVD and Australian VHS in the scene I mention). Copyright reasons I guess (in 1988, TMBG were on a tiny US label called "Bar None" but a large UK label called "One Little Indian" so maybe that has something to do with it...)

The British DVD is region-free and pops up very cheaply on ebay.co.uk all the time if you want to check it out! You might have to check a few auctions before you find one that'll ship to the US though - here's one, but not so cheap - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tapeheads-NEW-SEALED-TIM-ROBBINS-JOHN-CUSACK_W0QQitemZ380139660122QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL?hash=item588216e35a#ht_2014wt_923

Who knows? Some of the scenes and dialogue might be different too!

Any chance that you could rip that bar scene from your DVD for me so I can see it with the TMBG's music? Contact me at [email protected]. Thanks.

I'm willing to, for sure... but you'll have to wait for me to teach myself how to do that! I'll e-mail if I can work it out.

Or, to make it easier, just record the scene audio wise and send me a copy of the MP3. I normally use Super MP3 Recorder to do things like that, but there are many small programs that perform the same task. Thanks.

The soundtrack is phenomenal! LONG LIVE THE SWANKY MODES!
I fortunately still have mine on cassette tape. I'm sure you can get this on amazon.
