The big on-air speech

I have mixed reactions to the big tirade Barry has on the air (the one with the camera circling around him). In some ways it is brilliantly written but I find it to be the only false note in the film. The speech feels too rehearsed, too artificial, too clever. The rest of Barry's on-air stuff feels spontaneous and natural.

Thoughts?

It felt like something he'd had in him for a long time, and it took the right combination of certain callers and drama in his studio for it to finally come out. The "spiraling out of control" camera effect wasn't exactly subtle, but it did its job.

Good points. I got the whole 'had it in him for awhile' thing but maybe it's the way it was delivered...not sure. The timing and delivery of the whole thing felt like a well-rehearsed speech. It didn't seem to really "flow" from him, like his other radio bits. That's the only time in the film I felt manipulated as a viewer.
