Broadcast News

It was actually considered a camped-up imitation of Broadcast News, with William Hurt, Albert Brooks and Holly Hunter, which came out a year or so earlier.
I heard nothing about His Girl Friday (or Front Page) when this movie came out.

I'm watching it now (and (I've never seen Broadcast News). I liked Front Page the best.
