background actors

I was a background actor in the trick or treat scene. for 3 evenings we sat around waiting to be called. finally an assistant lines up the adults and kids in costume. just ahead of me in line was a cute serious little girl dressed, if memory serves, as a carrot. she and 2 other kids were pulled out of line with no explanation. i could see how crestfallen the girl was. she was whisked away and wound up with a speaking part on the porch. she was delighted. i on the other hand was put in the far distance walking across the road with a kid dressed as a toilet. he can be seen as a white blur in the long shot. just to the right of the white blur, there i am. what? and quit show business? and i got a check for $150.
