shareI think that you guys think that it is boring and slow because you are boring people with limited attention spans. I love this movie. I saw it on VHS around the time it came out.
I was eighteen years old. I didn't get bored. I'm glad I saw it when I did.
Great music, beautiful cinematography ... and a story that left me in the haze. 5/10 stars from me as well.
shareIt's "slow" like jazz is "slow". Not entirely sure what to think about the basic story set-up and what's it ultimately supposed to be saying (Jones's plans of "friendly takeover" and conflict with Sting certainly could have used some more substancial development), but the film sure has mood and atmosphere to burn - great cinematography, great soundtrack and solid acting, too (incidentally, I just read that it was because of his work on Stormy Monday that the Coen brothers picked Roger Deakins as their DP for Barton Fink... and of course they've been married eversince). A rather worthwhile little noir, 7,5/10.
