A Stoning...?

I thought the title meant the old process of burying the accused underground up to his head while the villagers throws stones at his head till death or sufficient injury---an old form of punishment.Here it's actually referring to what they admittedly called"kraping" ,just throwing stones at the Amish buggy in motion.I thought it would be old-time revenge/justice versus modern day societal punishment,an interesting conflict. The "Stoning" in the title is a misleading and cheap tactic.
