Warner Bros. DVD is bunk!

Why would they release Stealing Home in Pan and Scan? It was part of their whole retarded initial DVD offering, "Modified to Fit Your Screen". I think the Willy Wonka debacle and subsequent petition to get it released in letterbox made an impact on Warner's policy.

I actually caught Stealing Home on HBOHD or was it Showtime HD one night...and it just looked like they vertically cropped a 4:3 to fit widescreen. I was so po'ed. Was Stealing Home ever shot in 35mm 16:9? If it was a made-for-tv movie, that is a distinct possibility.

Stealing Home was not made for tv- it was a theatrical release that later aired on HBO.

Correct... I saw this film in the theater in 1988 and I enjoyed it very much. It deserves a proper widescreen release.
