DVD? VHS? Download?

This is one of those films that I'd love to view, but seems to be completely unavailable in the U.S. From what I can tell it was never even released on VHS (NTSC), which is surprising given the stature of the director.

Can anyone tell me different (i.e. anybody know of a VHS or DVD or download available in English)?

Many thanks in advance.

I just bought a wonderful DVD of this film, in widescreen no less, from an amazon.com marketplace seller named DaaVeeDee. Brand new, the original Gaumont release from France. The film is in Italian and French and has ENGLISH SUBTITLES. However - and here it comes - you need a multi-region DVD player, as it is a region 2 [Europe]disc. I've had one for years and never regretted the purchase of it.

Many thanks for your reply! Purchasing a multi-region player has been on my list for some time. Looks like the time has come....

It's worth the investment. I've had mine for a long time and never regretted it. Meanwhile I've watched "Splendor" 3 times already. The transfer to DVD is excellent, could hardly be better, and the subtitles are easy to read.

Thanks again Hildegard. Three times already, eh? Must be a great flicker. Okay...time for me to seriously consider a region-free player.
