The TRUE Version of WESTSIDE STORY Brooklyn Style

One might laugh at this film and think it's poorly acted, etc., But I tell you, I come from this borough and these were the good days when Puerto Ricans and Italians understood eachother. I am so glad to see how the Puerto Ricans in this film honor the Italians as a superior race, the way the PR mother is so honored to have the Italian boy come into her home...This is the way it was when I grew up in Brooklyn, 1970's...PR's are good people, as long as they know the Italian is superior.

Great film, Basically Westside Story, in truth, Brooklyn Style.

Anyone for Pasta tonight? The fried foods are bad for ya...Eat real pasta, not the kind in the can...

Couldn't agree with you more. Born and raised in that neighborhood and that's how it was with the PR's. It was a great place to grow up. It's not the same anymore.

I disagree because on average the Puerto Ricans actually conducted themselves better then the Italians ( Spike excluded)). For example the Puerto Rican mom ( Angel's mom), was so much better of a person then Spike's( not to mention being more honest with who she is). Also Angel was the strongest character in this movie, and was respected by not only Spike but the Mafia Don Cacetti. Which is why when he brought his grandson over to visit his dad ( Spike), she is an equal. I think it is significant that the Don himself went to Spike's and Angel's not the other way around, or his mom did not bring him. It shows the Don respects both of them and has no trouble having his grandson not only around his dad but Angel as well.
