Where can I get a copy of this film?

I have read the book which was great and i have also watched the film in Russian without subtitles and enjoyed it very much even though i dont speak more than a few words of Russian, I understood what was going on because i have read the book. What i would like to know is if it is possible to get this film on DVD region free pal or region 2 pal with English subtitles or on VHS pal with English subtitles and where from? If anyone can answer my question i would be most grateful.

Wow, I'm so surprised that this film is known and popular (?) among non-Russian speaking people! I am Russian and this film is like an icon for me, there's so much of everything there.
And I can't imagine how Bulgakov can be translated. I'm afraid it's impossible. The language is so amazing and so very special! I use a lot of quotes from Bulgakov in everyday life. And a lot of Russian people do, in fact.

I love this film but my all-time favourite Russian movie is 'Ironia Sudbie' (Irony of Fate). I would love to remake that film one day.

"Ironia" and "Serdtse" are waaaay too different movies :)
But yes, they're both great in their own ways.

ironia sud'bi is just a comedy while sobachie serdze is a farce and a critique of communism and everything else

i seen it back in russia in early 90's a few times and maybe 6-7m years a friend send me a copy but i lost it

it'd be very hard to truly appriciate the layers in this movie without at least reading the book in english...
