Was the dog or the cats harmed during this film?

Hi all !

I absolutely enjoyed this film ! It's one of the best comedies I have ever seen, and yet its essence reveals so much about post-revolution Russia and about humanity in general. This accompanied by beautiful visuals (especially at the beginning of the film), brilliant direction, and a wonderful score. Most of all, the acting is absolutely amazing.

However, one think that did bother me was the thought as to whether the dog or any of the cats were harmed during the filming of this movie. As a matter of principle, I am against ill-treatment of animals in the name of art; hence, any light on the above-mentioned question would be welcome.

I'm sure the crew and actors ate tons of meat during the production of this movie...so there you go, nobody's truly innocent in this dog-eat-dog world.

frodo_unplugged, what's your problem? The first poster just asked a question about the treatment of the animals, he/she wasn't trying to spread any vegan propaganda. Get a life.

And I ate way more meat while i was reading this article... so as it was already so eloquently said: nobody's truly innocent in this dog-eat-dog world.

While I agree, that we, PREDATORS, may eat meat if we want, the OP's question wasn't about that. Truth is, you're asking in the wrong place. Go ask around some Russian forums.

They were not hurt.

Surgery, scalding - all staged/simulated.

Not during, but after filming the cast ate all of the animals while they were still alive.
