How can there be no messages in the forum for one of my favorite movies ever?

I first saw Short Circuit when I was about 4. I loved it, then when I finally got it on VHS, I used to watch it over and over. I would put the movie in when I woke up, watch it, rewind it, watch it again, rewind, watch again, etc, until I went to bed. I've seen Short Circuit at least 200 times, but probably closer to 300 or maybe even 400.

I eventually stopped watching it so much, but every once and a while I would pop the VHS in. Then I finally got Short Circuit 2, which I also love. I watched that a lot, probably ~100 times, but not as much as part 1.

Then Short Circuit 1 and 2 came out on DVD, I ordered them. Finally, Short Circuit in widescreen!

Anyway I'm a huge movie watcher, and while there are amazing movies out there, somehow Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 remain my favorite movies ever.

I'm a computer programmer and hardware guy, and while I was always interested in technology (tried building a robot when i was like 2 or 3), Short Circuit really motivated me. I hope to someday build a robot similar to J5 (although not alive =P). If I ever became a millionaire I'd definitely try to get them to make a 3rd movie.

I guess my whole life exists the way it does today because of these 2 movies, so I just can't stop enjoying them. Sure the acting seems corny now, and the 80s music and references are silly, but I still love it.

I remember when I was little, and I heard on frickin CNN that there would be a Short Circuit 3, and I was so mad when it didn't happen. It could still happen, hollywood is always looking to do any sequel it can. The way I see it, it's only a matter of time. I also wanted one of those J5 toys they had in Short Circuit 2, that would have kicked!

If they can make about 23 Halloween movies, Short Circuit 3 could happen. Hllywood makes pointless sequels(Baby Geniuses 2,anyone?).

hi, nice to see u like the film like i do. can i ask you a question? when johnny 5 gets beaten by the two guys employed by the evil mastermind, some famous classical music starts playing when johnny struggles up and into an alley? do u know the name of this piece because its beautiful and perfectly suited possibly the most poignant and touching scene in the film.
thanks.

To jayesh26 ::

Are you referring to the scene where J5 is writing to Fred in chalk

to "Get Ben", "Dying" , "U Fix" on the brick wall--

I can only think of one solution: read the end credits- they usually have
all the songs that were heard through the movie. It's the sort of
melancholy string music when J5 is mangled- know what you mean.

Also- buy the soundtrack!!! Prob. not hard to find

reply

There never was a soundtrack =(

I'm not sure the song name but there is an MIDI of it at http://johnny-five.com/midi/

i think its http://johnny-five.com/midi/dyingfive.MID

(and my favorite midi at that site is http://johnny-five.com/midi/airplanes.MID its the music that plays as johnny is signaling the toy air planes to help him)

reply

defsoft, thanks for that midi site of the music when J5 signalls the planes, that music is mad, i jus wish there was sum1 who had an mp3 format of the song, its brilliant.
When the bloody hell are the S.C dvd;s comng to australia, goddamiiitt =(

You my friend.. are an idiot..

reply

Yeah you probably saw a cut version.. the cut version usually takes out most of the end joke/laugh sequence, some sequences in the nova building tracking J5 at the beginning, and a few other scenes.. nothing too major

Its Erik Satie and the piece of music is called Gymnopedie No1.

defsoft: The first movie came out when I was about 9 or 10. I watched it so many times that I literally memorized most of the dialog in the movie. Before my voice changed, I could imitate Ben's voice, and Johnny's voice perfectly. I used to walk around the house doing conversations between Ben and Johnny in their voices (drove my Mom up the wall!) It got so bad that she wouldn't let me watch it anymore. When the second movie came out, Mom made me promise not to do the dialog from the movie! (Of course, I didn't keep that promise!) I wish I could still do the voices like I could when I was a kid.

Yeah same here, i can literally watch the movie any time in my head. I see each scene perfectly, every little detail, the lighting, music, etc.

I bet I could use a stopwatch, start visualizing the movie, and end at the exact length of the actual movie. hehe

Yeah when I was about 4 or 5 I made up some song about needing input and I would run around singing it all day.
