Did you like the ending? (SPOILERS)

The ending pretty much turns the whole movie into a comedy all of a sudden. I didn't like the movie all that much up until that point (great cast, nice locations, decent noirish direction, unbelievably predictable plot) but I did not see that ending coming (where he lives, the wife gets the money and makes peace with him and the swindlers get the shaft). On the other hand the fact that he met a woman who looks exactly like the one from his dream and that this happens by pure chance and that she turns out to be a swindler is the perfect storm of pretty much impossible coincidences. Maybe they were hinting were the thing was going with that.
