Why Does Bryce Constantly Touch Frank?

I suppose it's a way for him to project dominance over Frank, but throughout the movie in almost every scene Bryce gets real close and touches Frank. If I was Frank I would probably have slugged him for getting in my personal space. What is up with that?

Certain personality types like to express a friendliness with a pat or a rub. I've known many people who were "nudgers," as they'd love to elbow or slap the back of your hand with the back of theirs as a gesture. In Brice's case, I'm sure it was more of a buttering up technique that he thought might put Frank at ease that he was friendly.

john glover is great at playing sly jerks! this is probably my 2nd favorite performance, right behind '52 pickup'.

I notice Glover has also done that shoulder touching/rubbing thing
on Smallville. He's a great actor and Gremlins 2 is one of my
favorites with him.

haven't seen 'gremlins 2'; will have to check it out, thx!

You bet.

Bryce is trying to be friendly, although he secretly wants his job. Remember how he says in the booth, "He's finished." and laughing hard before Elliot opens the door and knocks him down? He was laughing because he figured now he'll get Frank's job. But he didn't overdo it. I think you are too sensitive.

It's to show that he already thinks himself as Frank's boss. Normally only those in power tend to touch people in a workplace environment. You can see Frank's uncomfortableness at this display of dominance.

reply

yes.

That's it. Watch how often Donald Trump and his cronies pat each other, it's like a game of one-upmanship.

reply

Because if you remember, he's never felt that way about a man before but he sure liked him in a certain way!

reply

it's called the festive spirit!
