How old were you the first time you saw Scrooged?

I must've been 5-6, we had recorded it off USA and it was in between Mickey's Christmas Carol and Rudolph on the tape, so it never occurred to me it wasn't for kids, probably 90% of everything went over my head, never understood all the freaky stuff going on with the ghosts but a lot of it creeped me out, especially when the first ghost picks Frank up in the cab and the locks come off the doors, etc, that to me was creepy. Lew's 7 year rotted corpse didn't really bother me, though as a kid I always thought when his hand snapped off those loose skin things flying through the air looked like chicken meat. Ew. But I knew Ghostbusters, I knew Ghostbusters 2 so I knew Bill Murray, or rather I knew him as Peter Venkman, so I loved the movie.

23, I remember I went home on leave and just had to get out of the house. It was Thanksgiving week so I saw it either on opening night or one or two days after. Unfortunately the movie was a big disappointment for me. I also remember seeing Cocoon II: The Return that same weekend(also it's opening weekend)..it was another case of getting out of the house and another case of it being very disappointing.
A week later I was on a flight to Saudi Arabia, I was in AWACS and they sent me over to Riyadh for 2 months over the holidays to issue out codes to the Radio Operator(CSO) on the E-3 Sentry. Even Riyadh was cold that winter, who knew?

In my 20s. It wasn't a go to movie growing up. My parents don't even like it that much.

reply

45, give or take as decade.

By that age, you really understand Scrooge!

reply

Somewhere in my teens. I'll go with 14 or something.

I was 9. I was about make my First Communion and I saw it the night before.

I think I watched it in about '92 on VHS so I'd have been 14ish.

I just re-watched it for probably the 10th time. It gets better every time.

About 26 when it came out for rental on VHS, STILL watch it at least once a year, especially for Carol Kane & her flying kick in the gonads!!
