Why did Dap berate 1/2 pint for screwing Jane?

He didn't do anything wrong; it was consentual sex. It would have been one thing if the Pint had raped her, but Jane had sex w/him of her own volition. If Dap had been given this golden opportunity, I'm sure he would have taken advanatage of it.

It wasn't the Pint's fault, and Julian wasn't even to blame. If anyone was to blame it was Jane herself for being stupid enough to let Julian pimp her out. Instead of screaming a plea of "wake up" to the entire Mission student body, the black faculty, or the movie viewing audience, Dap should have made his wake-up call specifically to Jane.

He didn't berate him. He set her up with pint to have an excuse to dump her.

I asked why did Dap berate the Pint, not Julien.

Because he knew Julian was doing it just to have an excuse to humiliate Jane and Dap has more respect for women than that. He knew she was blinded by her love for Julian and couldn't see that no matter what choice Jane made, Julian would've deemed it the "wrong" choice, that he was a sadistic POS and was trying to frame their breaking up as "her fault," instead of his desire all along. Dap did not want Half Pint to treat women that way, or to take advantage of Jane's humiliation.

Exactly right, ceebeegee.

Come with me if you don't want paint on your clothes.

OP's question is really sad -- I know she meant no harm. However, it's a shame that people today are so numb to practices that humiliate and degrade other human beings that they see nothing wrong with that sex setup.

Half pint told Dapp that Julian arranged it. HE pimped Jane out to Half Pint. Dapp is a deeply conscious and considerate man. Of course he would find this reprehensible, superficial and unethical behavior.

The pledging was all about humiliation and the sex scene was the culmination of Julian and company's willingness to degrade people and strip them of humanity.

By participating, Half Pint showed he became one with Julian and can't even distinguish between what is respectful and disrespectful to human beings.

Dapp's desire to divest of interests in South Africa underscores that he is all about treating human beings properly -- whether here or in Africa. He represents dignity for humans while Julian represents the loss of dignity for humans. Half Pint is the one person that Julian and Dapp had in common.

It's as if there was a tug of war between the two sides and Dapp lost his own cousin to Julian's side -- not just in terms of the fraternity but in terms of his spirit and ideology.

Nah, the shame is when someone is mentally numb enough to allow themselves to be taken advantage of, as Jane allowed Julien to use her like a whore.
