School Daze Sequel!!!!

Lover of all musical drama's I.e. (The temptations, Five heartbeats, Jackson 5, What's love got to do with it) Just to name a few. I absolutely love this movie and would support the sequel or musical. As ofJuly 2013 Spike Lee confirmed he has written a sequel to this movie that will take place 25yrs later. THE ARTICLE from Essence.com:

This year marked the 25th anniversary of School Daze.

In years past, there's been some interest in a sequel, but not much had occurred… until now. Famed director Spike Lee sat down with Black&Sexy TV and mentioned one interesting fact—there's a script completed!

"I had the script for School Daze," said Lee. "But, what people have to understand is that it's a contemporary version. So it's the same school, Mission College, 25 years later," explained Lee. "Hopefully I can get Laurence Fishburne to play Dap. He'll be the president now of the school. And we would deal with issues around Historically Black Colleges today."

He went on to mention that some of the new film will tackle many of the same issues that plagued youth in the late '80s, while other aspects of the film will tackle new subjects including the pledging process and homophobia.

*****Would you be excited for an updated version of School Daze? And who would you cast in the musical and/or movie? *****

Would *love* to see that! So many additional topics to cover: 1st black US president, evolution of Rap / Hip-Hop into mainstream culture, educational debt at an all-time high. And it's *got* to have cameos from all the original cast, if not as university bigwigs, perhaps at an alumni gathering during Homecoming.

Should a sequel ever be made, I hope it does tackle some deep topics that affect HBCUs & the Black community as a whole (1st Black President, the economy, police killing young Black men and not being charged for their deaths, etc). I hope it shows how much Mission college has grown since the last movie (now being called 'University', more diverse student body (Whites, Hispanics, Asians, & foreign exchange students)).

I had a post on here about it six years ago as to who I could see being cast in this movie. I saw my old post and I could no longer see any of them (except maybe two or three) being cast. After seeing this movie again recently, I just thought of who I could see being cast (including some from my old list):

-Corbin Bleu (old list)
-Jurnee Smollett-Bell (old list)
-Monique Coleman (old list, but HUGE stretch because she's in her mid-30s now)
-Evan Ross (Diana Ross' son)
-Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh from The Hunger Games)
-Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah from the Lifetime movie)
-Zendaya (a tad young imo, but Tisha Campbell was a teenager when she made the original)
-KeKe Palmer
-John Boyega (new Star Wars movie)
-Black British guy who played Alby in The Maze Runner (I can't think of his name right now)
