I love it! The scarecrows look scary and they are very brutal
sharey'know, i really didn't think it was THAT great... I mean, I had an interesting discussion about it with my brother afterwards, but the acting was pretty poor and it sorta prevented the movie from being scary. Had some pretty cool symbolism goin' on, though. It was a pretty intelligent and atmospheric movie, but the acting just prevents it from being great.

Yes it is! Even the scarecrows that *don't* come to life are freaky!
Amazingly, us Aussies got the uncut VHS version when it was released here in 1987 (this has only happened with gross 1980's horror once before, with THE BURNING- and that was released uncut here by mistake! It's not on DVD here, but you van nab a copy through Ebay...
btw- the scariest thing about the movie for an Aussie audience is the "hero" kindnapper/robber's resemblance to Derryn Hinch!
An official DVD is hitting Region 1 (US) on Spetember 11, 2007. It's bare bones (excuse the pun) but uncut...

The film on Zone horror is a totally different movie, there showing the 1992 crappy thing which has nowt to do with the 1988 gorefest (u need to find the film with the bank robbers in it, cause the film is more about them betraying each other then Scarecrows, Zone horror would never ever show this, mainly because its far too violent and gory for them.
