This would have worked better if...

The characters were teens instead of robbers. The location is creepy and so are the scarecrows but the characters are awful and seriously ruin it. I know teens being slaughtered has been done to death (ha!) but this seemed like the perfect movie for it. A bunch of kids partying in the corn fields come across a strange house and find themselves being stalked by murderous scarecrows.

But that's just my opinion, every once in a while I can take this movie for what it is and enjoy it but damn those characters...ugh.

I agree! I'm watching it now for the first time and I would be a hell of a lot more interested if it was partying teens as I'm bored with these characters in their camoflage gear and guns, really does nothing for it, which is a pity. I think they made the scarecrows a bit too human like aswell. Kinda just wish I could just make a horror film about scarecrows :|

I thought I told you,
this world is not for you..

Theres enough horror films with that concepts without adding more to it. The concepts fine as is.

reply

Agreed. If they had been teens, it would have been another generic horror movie.

Fun to see adults get killed for a change.

That and being that they're supposed to be soldiers as well makes the monsters appear even more dangerous as they get their asses handed to them.

reply

No it wouldn't have worked better, there are plenty of generic teens in peril flicks.

If Scarecrows and teens are your thing then check out Night Of The Scarecrow.

It's all a deep end.

Unsuspecting snobby suburban teens drinking beer and smoking pot in a secluded area before getting killed one by one has been done to death. This movie wouldn't be memorable at all if it was another generic teen horror flick.

The poster and those who agree with him are the reason why the horror genre keeps regurgitating the same old stuff. It's because so many horror fans are comfortable with predictable and generic horror movies. Scratch that. So many horror fans prefer predictable and generic horror movies.

It's annoying how I've spent time arguing with horror fans who are against horror movies that try to be innovative.

reply

Whoa, chill! I just think it would have worked better for this particular movie, the robbers bored the hell out of me. I'm all for innovative but at least make it watchable.

reply

You missed the point regarding the bank robbers. They are the 'Crows', trespassing on sour ground. The 'Scarecrows' are sentinel beings who come back to rid the corn fields of the 'Crows'. William Wesley describes the above in great detail during his comm track.

It's all a deep end.

Just because someone doesn't like the characters in a movie doesn't mean they're not being innovative lol. The characters in this movie were horrible and hardly memorable. The film us good atmosphere and had potential to be interesting with the robbers as main characters but they dropped the ball because the hats tees themselves are in fact horrible. Teens would have been better, Adults would have been better- literally anything better than the characters we got. Now if the robbers actually had distinct personalities and we knew their names it'd be fine but that's not the case
