Why doesn't the little girl talk?

She was kept because the police thought she and Krishna were stealing. After she was captured, she doesn't speak even when her parents visit her. Why doesn't she speak anymore?

shell-shock.

Don't you think it's a child psychology case?

I thought Manju (the little girl) was the most interesting character in the whole movie. There was just something about her innocence and happiness even as she grew up with a mother who sent her out of the room so that she could "entertain" and a father who was negligent and even somewhat abusive. She seemed more miserable to me while she was under the care of the state, even though her home was (pretty much) in a brothel.

Coach McGuirk: All right, listen up, that was a good game. We all showed up, and I'm proud of that.

Home is home. Even if it is a brothel.

I dreamt an animated musical last night. Is that normal?
