Christine Lahti

Watching this film again, 24 years after it was released, it only reminded me of how good Lahti is in this film. The scene with her father at the restaurant is amazing. I can't believe she was not nominated. There were a lot of great female performances in 1988.

Yes, she was sublime in this film and the restaurant scene is the highlight. I guess that as it was such a strong year for lead actress there was just no room for her, as well as Shirley Maclaine and Susan Sarandon.

Completely humorless. Not just here but in every role. Perfect for Lifetime TV but not the movies.

This movie exist for Phoenix and Plimpton. Both "adult" leads are soooo friggin' earnest and boring.
