Confession to Lorna

"Now, I have no right in tellin' this to you... It's dangerous for you and it's dangerous for them... I'm sorry, I just couldn't stop myself... You can do what you want to, you can tell your dad anything, I don't care... I just needed you to know... I don't know what I'm doing... And I love you... I love you..."

I believe this scene is one of the most overwhelming in the history of cinema. River's confession, conveying such a true, strong, deeply moving emotion, just took my breath away and still does, every single time I watch it. It's wreching and always finds my tears. It's like seeing a true confession, it never happened to me to feel that strongly involved in a scene... It's like- how somebody well said before- you could see right in the soul of this sensitive, amazing boy... It's like Danny confessed to all of us... Never have I seen an actor like River, conveying so much sensibility and such a profound, believable emotion through his character, beyond the screen, striking the deepest corner of our heart. Indeed has he given a little part of his beautiful soul to all of his characters. Splendid!!

In my book River has surely won the Academy Award for what he has offered us, God bless his soul!

Anybody else deeply moved by this particular scene:)?

For me, this is one of my favourite scenes in any movie. - There really was something to both their performances. It would have been great to see the two team up again.

Oh, I loved this scene! River made it so realistic, emotional and true; it was just.. mind-blowing! There was such heart and talent put into it- truly an award-winning performance.
Although I, myself, also thought it was a bit risky to confess. But it just goes to show you how sweet and considerate his character was - because he didn't want to be with Lorna and lie to her. He loved her so much, that he risked his parents going to prison for 15 years!
It's hard finding a guy like Danny. =]

Only River could have pulled that scene off.. and he did such an AMAZING job. He made it believable and emotional - he just pulls you right in.

Yes, of course. That and the ending were pretty emotional. River is really good at crying scenes.

Love is the coal that makes this train roll.

They were together in real life and that might have added to the chemistry between them.
They were both in The Mosquito Coast and I think that film predates ROE. They only had a few scenes together in that one though.
