In the original cut there was a wedding scene - it was removed just before the film was released. The Australian dvd release has the film fully restored with the wedding scene back in place. www.ezydvd.com.au sell it to overseas customers provided you have a multi region dvd player.

Well, there would later be a series based on the movie, and in the series they had Jessica and Jim get married, and have a couple of kids, but apparently there would be a horse back riding accident that would take the life of Jessica, making Jim extremely overprotective of his daughter, Danny. Especially since she likes to follow in her father's footsteps and jump horses off of cliffs and race in hard core terrain!

Sorry ?? Are you assuming there was going to be a tv series based on the Snowy films ? Or are you confusing it with the 90s tv series Snowy River: The McGregor Saga. It didnt have anyone with the same names - ie the Craigs. It used the name McGregor for its "Man" and had nothing to do with the two Tom Burlinson films.

...i've head this for some time, and would love to have the Ozzie version- but how can i get it/watch it, with the USA type DVD player? aren't DVDs standardised now?

reply

Its nothing to do with standardisation. Dvds are sold in regions - some countries have different versions available for sale of the same movie, so technically to prevent the "wrong version" being sold in the wrong country they are locked to region codes. For example - Eyes Wide Shut was heavily edited and "cleaned up" for US sale - while the rest of the world saw the uncut version. Regions also technically prevent the sale and distribution of DVDs prior to a films actual release in certain countries. Tho that has gone out the window in recent years !! US folks can purchase the AU versions of Snowy River from ezydvd.com.au but you need to ensure your dvd player is region free or multi region first. ....hmmm. gotcha. wasnt aware of this, but i have noticed this variation in a movie from one part of the country to another. i remember well seeing "Smokey and the Bandit II" back home in California, many years ago, and knew some language was edited, but laughed my head off over the part where Bandit and Snowman are dickering over a trip with Big Enos, and every time Bandit opens his mouth, all that comes out is this horrendous belch! but when i got a copy here in Kansas, to share that with my kids, the belches were silenced! Same with the flatulance scene in "Blazing Saddles"- my husband saw that where the cowboys sounded like car horns- when he got it to show me that, it was changed to orchestral instrumets! funny still, but not what he remembered. its annoying- i wish they would edit the language as heavily as the minor details...there are a lot of movies i would love my kids to have, but language or inappropriate scenes prevent it,unless i have the time to sit there and edit...*sigh*

o_O where did you find that??? that would be great to have! i really hate it when movies are regionalised by cutting things out. in this case, they obviously thought it would get more dollars at the box office if J&J were running off to live in sin, thus giving daddy more reason to get his dander up.

Where can I get this? How can I convert it to play on USA DVD players?

reply

Yup I saw the Wedding scene in the Australian DVD release.

Could someone post the scene on Youtube?

I'd purchase the movie in a heart beat but I can't afford all of the DVD players in the different regions I need! lol
It’s good to dream

I posted the wedding scene recently:

Thanks for that! I thought it happened before they went to his place the first time, before reconciling with her Dad.

I don't think they are married; just living together. The reason I think so is that the towns people ask Jim to send her back. If she was his wife, they would not say that. In any case, it is safe to assume they got married at some point.

reply

I assumed they were not married when she chose to stay at his place in the middle of the film. However, at the end of the movie when they come riding up to his cabin, she is wearing an elegant outfit, which made me think it was a wedding suit. Brides did not wear wedding dresses back then. I had the feeling a scene showing the wedding had been cut.

In the Australian version (which is in widescreen, btw) that was already mentioned, the wedding takes place shortly after Jim and the stallion give Patton his final whupping. So at the end, the second time in the movie that Jessica accompanies Jim to his/their house, they are now married - if you want to give precedence to the Australian version, that is.

If it's available on Amazon (which is where I got it), you'll be able to find it right here:

http://www.amazon.com/Man-Snowy-River-II/dp/B000CCRP9K/

As of this moment (December 12, 2014) it's not available, but that might change anytime. (Surprisingly, I checked Amazon's Australian website, and they don't even list the movie, much less indicate its availability.)

You might also try checking eBay.
