ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVS,,WISH A WIDESCREEN RELEASE WAS OUT,,

A GREAT FILM WISH A WIDESCREEN,RELEASE WAS ISSUED,,,,,,,,,,,LIZA IS FUNNY AND BURT IS HIS USUAL GOOD BUDDY SELF,,LOVE THIS FILM,,

reply

I love it too dude but I doubt it was even filmed in widescreen.

reply

IT WOULD HAVE TO BE BUD,,,IT WAS IN THE THEATER ALL THEATRICAL MOVIES ARE WIDESCREEN SHOT,,,I THINK I AM RIGHT

reply

Damn! If only I wasn't still in infant school I may have been able to catch it ;)

Not all theatre films are widescreen. The old silent films were shown in movie theatres and they're not widescreen.

reply

older classics were in pan/scan but i thought all films after 1970s were widescreen,,,,maybe an exception,,,

reply

Yeah it seems that most stuff after the 50s was widescreen so yes we'll have to buy the widescreen version of this if/when it comes out :p

reply

Older classics were not in "pan and scan" -- they were just filmed in the more square format (16:9) that happens to be similar to the traditional TV set. There was no panning and scanning because the image fit the whole frame.

reply

thanks love this movie very under-rated

reply

This isn't one of Burt's best pictures, but all of them are worthwhile, and it's great to see him with Liza Minnelli.

reply

The German DVD release is anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1.

It has the English audio track too (no subtitle tracks though).

The picture quality is much nicer than the US DVD too.

I have just watched it tonight after ordering from Amazon.de for a bargain 7 Euro's (0.99 for the disk 6 Euro foreign postage)

Just so you know. Finally, on DVD, Liza and Burt's 1975 "Lucky Lady" with Gene Hackman.

Another underrated flick. If you liked "Rent-A-Cop", you'll like this.
