Better than most think

I had put off watching this version because I loved the original so much! So, it came on tonight on Encore Western, so I said, "What the hey!" Sure, Boxleitner, Harrison, Walston and the rest are not in the same class as the original, but they didn't really overtry as some casts of remakes do. Arness is no Duke, but he didn't pretend to be. I think that the rest of the cast just saw the script, whether they were very familiar with the original I don't know, but they gave it "the old college try".

It still suffers because of the other one being a classic, but it was entertaining. As a BIG Duke fan, I can live with it, a lot better than the recent True Grit remake which was just AWFUL. I can only hope that Hollywood will NEVER try to remake Duke's greatest movie, The Searchers. That would be a crime!!
