I'd buy this on DVD, if it ever comes out....

Me too, a very under rated film, with two great lead performances from Biehn and McArthur. Love to see Criterion or somone release it on dvd with both cuts of the film and a directors commentary from Friedkin, plus maybe a retrospective featurette as well with director Friedkin, actors Biehn, McArthur, Campbell and so on, and original writer Wood.

Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Yeah, perhaps they consider old films as jobs, done and over with. Done with one - move on to another. No need to go back and repeat the re-release process even if it's on home video, and especially when it comes to a film that didn't do as well as a major studio picture is usually supposed to.

As for the film - I want it on DVD and I'm gonna buy it when it comes out! Ya hear you studio man??

This film played in limited release - 172 theaters back in 1992 - which would be about 350 theaters if they were to release it today. I wonder how they measure a films success if they really don't give it a chance to begin with? It's kind of baffling, considering "Silence Of The Lambs" came out the year before this film did and Hollywood was really into "Serial Thrillers" at the time....

I guess the amount of posts on this board is kind of an indication of it's popularity...

Well the movie was done back in 1987 with Dino Delaurentiis Studio but then it went into bankruptcy and the film couldn't get released. It was released in limited theaters in 1992 and by then the subject matter wasn't relevant anymore since the death penalty issue was hot during the mid and late 80's. Pretty interesting movie though i want a dvd release of it with extra features definitely.

This film is a reminder of why VHS is still very valuable to those of us who still watch it. I bought this for $2 from my local video store a few years ago before it went out of business. An excellent film, a wise investment.
