'Dedicated to the brave Mujahideen fighters' - myth?

I see the quote "Dedicated to the brave Mujahideen fighters" being mentioned as being shown in the credits on older copies of this movie (VHS-tapes and such).

It is also said that after 9/11 this was changed to "This film is dedicated to the Gallant People of Afghanistan".

There is a screenshot of the new line here:

but I'm yet to find a screenshot or something that confirms the former wording.

Is this just an urban myth?

you might be thinking of some of president Reagan's speeches, which extolled the virtues of the brave Mujahideen in their war against 'godless communism'.

In my country, it was always, "This film is dedicated to the Gallant People of Afghanistan" right from when it was first released. There was no mention of any other names or groups within the country.

Please do not make negative comments about a film YOU NEVER SAW. It makes you look stupid.

No that was the quote, should still be really seeing as its referencing a different group at a different time.

Please look up the definition of "Mujahadeen". It's almost a literal translation of "those who struggle". Yes, the current bad guys have called themselves Mujahadeen, but they are not true Mujahadeen. Watch Charlie Wilson's War. That's a good example of what Afghanistan has been dealing with for about the past millennium or so.

"Jihad" means "struggle". It isn't a magic buzz word for terrorism. Again, the bad guys use it negatively. It's like the difference between Christians and Televangelists.

Please educate yourselves and stop living in a bubble of fear and bigotry.

Your reply has very little to do with my original question.

The original question still hasn't been answered with any sort of source, so I guess we soon can call this of as an urban myth?

I think it is just an urban myth. I have never heard this claim outside of the blog you show, which was clearly felicitous, or couldn't you tell?

Ok, but we both know how credible fan submitted info is on imdb, but atleast that's 2 (possibly from the same source? LOL) Anyhow, just buy an old VHS of Rambo 3 and kill the suspense. More interesting to me is that the subtitles were changed on the Special Edition DVD and have continued through the Ultimate, Collector's and now the BluRay. The original VHS and barebones DVD supposedly have better, more story relevant translations.

Plot: Rambo takes up arms with a plucky, can-do Afghani Mujahideen insurgence force against the unstoppable Red power of the Soviet menace, solving the problem by shooting 203,449 Russian soldiers single-handedly. Take that, Russian fags! Signed, AMERICA!

Subsequent Development: On September 11, 2001, some members of the Afghani Mujahideen (currently known as the the Taliban) sort of attacked the United States in an extremely bad and unforgettable way.

Why It Ruins the Movie: Watching two hours' worth of Sly Stallone helping out a body of people who would eventually decide to fly a plane into the World Trade Center can be a little unsettling. You don't necessarily blame Rambo, whose heart's certainly in the right place here. You more just want to take him aside for a few minutes with some informative charts and newspaper clippings.

In Italy the original quote was (literaly translated) "This film is dedicated to the valiant people of Afghanistan" - I doubt that, had the original quote been featuring the Mujahideen, they would've changed it.

because they where people who's land (from what they had stole from the Hindu's) was being taken by the russians. so America an others funded and helped them out... not knowing they are run by religious nutters who will kill anyone non believing in their ways.
