I've been waiting to see this since 1988

My good friend, Gary, and I went to our local theater in Gainesville, FL back in '88. We were both 12. We wanted to see something and thought this would be good. When the projector started - it made a real funny noise. The first trailer (don't remember what it was for) was blurry for about 20 seconds. After a big "BANG" and a scream. The screen went empty. We sat there for 20 minutes or so and some guy (the manager?) came in the theater and said "Everybody's got to leave because the film projector just broke". Then he started to cry. We left and went outside.

For some reason I never returned to watch the movie. My family moved away and I've lost contact with Gary. Is this movie any good?

This a sad and moving story. I'm a documentary filmmaker and I'm wondering if you would be interested in sharing your story with the world. I could document your efforts to go back to your old town, try to find Gary, and see if you can find this movie in some obscure theater, so you can finally, after almost 20 years, see this movie together like you planned to that day in 1988. What do you think?

I'd like to track Gary down before moving any further. Please do not begin filming without me or Gary.

So I'm a camp counselor, and working with these children for 7 weeks at a time is like living in hell. Randomly finding this thread and reading it gave me a good and needed laugh.

Thank you.

I'm not sure if this thread is sarcasm, serious or joking LOL but I think that would be a sweet idea for a documentary. I'm not sure how many people would want to see it but I would watch it. Imagine being able to track down an old friend from gradeschool many years later and go and watch the movie with them. Of course, it'd be embarassing if they didn't remember you.

A tip of the cap to you, sir.
