Favorite Scene?

I have two:

The scene where Steven goes out to do a routine when he thinks a talent scout is out there and it turns out his father is out there and Steven literally has a breakdown onstage.

The scene at the diner where Lila tells Steven she won't leave her family for him and he goes out in the rain and begins a Gene Kelly homage that turns into a descent into madness during the blinding rainstorm while Lila watches from the window.

Hanks was absolutely heartbreaking in both of these scenes.

I have alot because the movie was soo funny. the scene where steve is at the hospital doing stand up comedy. Then when Lila has to rush home to make dinner for the guest and at the table her daughter announces that she has a joke thats grown up enough and says "what did the *cough* sucker say to the other *cough* sucker.
so hilarious.

I liked the c0(£$ucker scene too.

Does anyone know the punchline to that joke?

The scene with Tom Hanks dancing in the rain. This scene was crafted very well and blew me away. It showed the true hurt under this guy's funny surface. This is a very underrated film, and that is an overlooked scene.

I love the scene where she comes home with her new hairstyle and says "I didn't mean to do it" and breaks into tears. Her husband and daughters just are so sweet and lift her spirits, telling her she's beautiful and has the best hair in the world.

That's what a real, loving family does...even when they have problems, like his dislike of her comedy stuff, he takes time to be loving and kind when she's in distress.

When her and the kids are tearing through the house trying to get ready for dinner---the change of clothes, throwing dinner together in the kitchen then on to table is hilarious. Wonder how/if they were able to do it in one take?

Wow, I didn't even know that the reason he broke down was because that was his father. All this while, I'd thought he just cracked under the pressure of seeing a talent scout in the audience. Thanks for letting me know that! That was my favorite scene in the movie.

I also liked the dancing in the rain scene.
