I grew up in the 80s

I used to watch all kinds of horror movies but Pumpkinhead is the only one I revisit. It's got a creepy setting, a great monster, and Lance Henriksen is great...so is the old witch!

reply

Me too, I love this film. Have you seen the sequels?

reply

I saw the second one a long time ago...like when it first came out on video. Sadly, it wasn't good at all.

reply

I agree, the second film is pretty bad unfortunately. The third and forth are pretty much just as bad. The only good thing about them is that Lance Henriksen is in them, and not even he likes them. In a interview he called the third film (Pumpkinhead Ashes to Ashes) "an absolute piece of 5hit", and he's right. In my opinion it's probable worse than the second film, which is hard to do.

Here's the interview where Lance talks a bit about the sequels, just in case you're interested....

hahaha

Thanks man. That was a great story. Lance is great. I remember hearing about Ashes to Ashes but didn't bother checking it out because I figured it would be a disappointment. Just checked out the trailer. Ouch.

reply

Yeah I'm a big fan of Lance, he's pretty good in anything he does, even when the film itself is crap. You didn't miss anything with Ashes To Ashes. Unfortunately I gave the film a chance, and must admit I was really excited for it, but that's how it goes I guess. Maybe someday a Pumpkinhead film on the same level as the original will be made, but it seems unlikely.

I've yet to see Pumpkinheads 3 & 4, but surely they can't be any worse than Return Of The Living Dead 4 & 5, produced and aired on the Sci-Fi channel around the same time?

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

reply

Well I guess if you're a Pumpkinhead fan then you might want to check the SyFy sequels out, but if you don't you're really not missing anything. Even Lance Henriksen (Ed Harley) who was in them thinks very little of them. In an interview he said they were his "Alimony movies" and refereed to Pumpkinhead: Ashes To Ashes as an "absolute piece of shlt" and IMO the man isn't wrong.

I'm guessing the SyFy Living Dead movies were pretty forgettable too and I'm having a hard time remembering them. Did one of them have something to do with a party or rave or something like that?

reply

Yes, that would be pt. 5: Rave to the Grave. Just irredeemable garbage.

And yeah, I think I'll keep Pumpkinhead 3 & 4 unseen by these eyes.

Yeah, from what little I can remember it was pretty bad.

Lol, you're probably better off (:
