despite indications, the title character does not have a pumpkin for a head.

The film suffered from disorganized publicity. The poster that made it out to most theatres was a pre-production poster that had nothing to do with the film, and was apparently drawn up by a couple of artists working on nothing more than the title. That poster DID feature a menacing jack-o-lantern, which had zero to do with the film. That poster followed the movie even unto video release; even after the film had been in theatres and gone, our local video rental house had the pumpkin posters up in their window.

i was making a humorous point about the title. i never even saw a poster with a pumpkin on it.

Which poster are you referring to? I have several in my possession but after reading your post it seems I may have a hole in my collection. Do you have a picture?

I wouldn't even know where or how to look for it now, except to ask the Most Holy Google.

All I can say is that I saw the jack o'lantern poster at the dollar theatre in 1989 or 1990. At that time, I did not see the film. My sister saw it there, and when it showed up at our local video rental place in 1991 or 1992, they had a big 'Pumpkinhead' poster that displayed an evil jack o'lantern. That was the first time that I saw it, on my sister's recommendation. I do not recall what - if anything - she said about the difference between that poster and the actual film.

More than that, I could not say. But I know what I saw.

I know they used this one over in the UK, but didn't realize it was used in the USA as well. Doesn't really represent the movie very well/at all, but still kinda cool in a way.

That's the one.
