I am both diabetic and very spirtual and religious. I don't agree with the idea of "faith healing", and I believe God gave man an advanced mind and the elements and tools to create modern medicine to treat, cure and prevent illness. Now this isn't to say I believe in all forms of "medical procedures" and I do also think medicine tends to try and play and dismiss god.
All that aside, I also believe in one's right to practice any faith they want so long they are not hurting somone (or pissing me off j/k), so with that in mind I think if an adult wants to make the free will choice of avoiding medicine and believing the creator heals all those with "true" faith (whatever that means) than...whatever, it is their grave and their body and their life...if they want to die, I guess that is fine. However, when it comes to a child or an adult that perhapes isn't mentally aware enough (such as advanced demetia or alzheimers) to really be informed on a level or make that choice either way...then no, it isn't optional; in that case faith healing should not be legally allowed until the child is of age and then can decide this for themselves.
I do have to say though I find it very silly to believe that if someone is sick and has an incurable disease it is because their faith isn't strong enough. The diabetic kid in this movie seemed to have stronger faith than even his cultish parents. I have been told by "faith healers" that my faith wasn't strong enough either and that is why I am diabetic. That statement is very insulting on many levels.
