the worst movie ever made

this movie is so bad it's disturbing. The acting is halarious, I mean come on...when Raymond Bacera dies? PATHETIC

Seriously, I truely believe this is the worst motion picture ever released in theatres.

You definately need to see more movies. It's not even the worst Michael Dudikoff movie released in theaters.

Yeah, I get you didn't like this one; but regardless of your feelings about said movie, you sould probably use a SPOILER WARNING before you let slip the fates of the character in said movie. Not that this was high on my rentallist, but I have not seen it yet and like to be warned before spoiled. Just FYI

Oh come on. This movie was released in 1988. By the way, in "Citizen Kane," Rosebud is his sled. Also, the ape in "King Kong" falls off the Empire State Building and dies.

The way Barcera dying & the platoons reaction to it was on the money. Don't forget the wripe.

Just like there is no moratorium on replying to worthless smartass posts, there is no moratorium on using spoiler warnings for films. If someone hasn't seen it yet, them it's new to them. You probably realize this but couldn't help but to make a wisecrack because you're under some weird misguided belief that you are a very clever and sharp witted individual. And did you just compare Citizen Kane and King Kong to freaking Platoon Leader? That might be the wittiest thing you wrote. Unintentionally of course.

reply

It is as good as Siege of Firebase Gloria and Go Tell the Spartans low budget but fairly good.

reply

I'd have to put this at the bottom of my Vietnam movies list, but it is hardly the worst movie ever.

Go tell the Spartans ROCKED

propaganda=on IMDB, apparently any movie with Americans as the good guys

To be honest i actually liked this movie. Besides the acting *Spoiler* (When parker dies) and the long magazines on the M16, this movie was actually quite good. I loved the Gunship scenes, and the score was fantastic. I loved the Medivac scene in the river. I actually built a diorama depicting this scene.

reply

I watched it on a whim and decided not to watch it again. True, it may be somewhat entertaining for a one-shot, but the acting is quite terrible, the story is a cliche, and the ridiculous misrepresentations of weaponry (They toss down 6, 7 grenades followed by around twice that many explosions) just goes over the top and makes this more fantasy than a depiction of Vietnam.

reply

This movie was first a book, and the book is the true memoir of the author. Obviously in a movie version there will be some sensationalism, but the author of the book is a well-respected retired officer, and the text is used in numerous university-level survey courses as a "true" depiction of one man's experiences in Vietnam.

I liked the scene where the Tim Page reporter type tells "Roach" he'd like to hear more and ends up with a handful of VC ears......sin loi, BWAHAHAHA!!!

I was a bit disappointed that the costumers got the collar insignia incorrect on the jungle fatigues and the use of 1st CAV aircraft as ass-and-trash ships for the 173rd (it was a long way from "the golf course"). I'm pretty sure that "the herd" had their own organic lift and scout assets.

I hope "Platoon Leader" makes it to DVD, and soon.

Six Actual......OUT!

i agree.
It nowhere comes close to the sublime beauty of 0LIVER ST0NE'S "PLAT00N".
A little effort still and their offensive and repulsive kind
( Aaron NORRIS' "PLATOON LEADER" of course! ) will be seen no more.
Instead we will have such g00d-willed pr0m0ters of Inter-nati0nal PEACE&FRIENDSHIP like the recent "S0lar Flare" with Mark Dacascos, for instance, where Americans are c0rrectly p0rtrayed as warm0ngers while the g00d ........ try to save the w0rld, like in any m0vie made fareastof New-Y0rk and farwest (beyond the IDL, please) of L0sAngeles.
F0rtunately in H0llyw00d today, something like "Strategic Air Command" starring the sickeningly Jingoistic James Stewart of yore (remember his "FBI Story" ?) would have no chance of polluting American screens and minds.

MULTIGIGATHANKS to the p0ltc0rrecth0ughts0nly 0LITE.

the whole movie was thinking of different reasons that it was inaccurate (i still give movies some leeway), teh acting was terrible, and yet sometimes i LoLed at how silly it was so at that point i kind of like it. i was at least drawn in because its a war movie. and as war movies go these days there are way more new ones that are way more terrible.

reply

I really enjoyed reading your comment, joelreizioff, it was indeed silly, typical of the eighties Michael Dudikoff style, and considering that the film was shot on a farm, in the province of Kwazulu Natal, in South Africa. Everybody had a hell of a lot of fun doing the show, though.
